Schedule Sequence Steps Using Custom Dates

Whippy now supports scheduling sequence steps based on custom data fields—giving you total control over when messages go out.
Automating workflows just got smarter. With this update, you can now schedule outbound steps in your Whippy sequences relative to any custom date field—perfect for aligning communications with due dates, end dates, appointment times, or contract timelines.
What’s New
You’ll now see a new option when configuring sequence step timing:
- “Send based on custom data”—choose a custom object
- Select any date-type field from your CRM or intake data
- Set a relative offset (e.g., 2 days before project deadline, 1 day after onboarding call)
Sequence duration is now dynamically calculated using these offsets, ensuring more accurate and relevant automations.
Why This Matters
Previously, sequence steps had to rely on generic delays or fixed schedules. Now, with custom date scheduling, you can:
Automate follow-ups tied to key milestones
Send reminders before or after specific deadlines
Coordinate campaigns with onboarding or service cycles
Personalize outreach without manual edits
Whether you're running recruiting campaigns, customer onboarding, or service reminders—this unlocks next-level automation precision and personalization.
Real-Life Use Cases
- Recruiters: Send a message 1 day before a candidate’s interview
- CS teams: Trigger onboarding messages 3 days after a kickoff call
- Operations: Remind staff about project wrap-ups a week in advance
Seamless Integration with Automations
This feature is fully compatible with your existing Whippy automations, so you can enhance live workflows with smarter step control—no new build required.
💡 Pro Tip: Combine this with custom variables and sequence re-add intervals for the ultimate personalization stack.
